The Tomography Club is officially launched.
July 2024 begins. And with it, a new adventure. The National Center for Biotechnology in Madrid promotes the creation and decentralisation of extra-departmental, inter-disciplinary and international working groups. We heard it and we are on it 😉
From within the Departments of Macromolecular Structures and Cellular and Mollecular Biology, around ~30 people come together to start what is called the «club TOMO». This group is formed by experts and aspiring tomo-people from many fields, including:
- TEM, Cryo-TEM and Cryo-FIBSEM facilities
- Predocs, postdocs and PIs from groups that work on cellular tomography, cryo-ET and software and methods development
What is the goal?
Our main goal is to generate a network that connects both expert and aspiring tomo-people. We want to be able to move, complete and spread knowledge: from cellular tomography to cryo-ET, from sample preparation techniques to STA workflows and programs. Every structural biology working with tomography is welcome.
What are the next steps?
For now our plan is simple. We want to do a kick-off meeting between Sept 24 – Nov 24 internally at CNB-CSIC level. For that, we first need to officialise our group in one way or another so we can use existing infrastructures and organise a workshop.
